Fetching Fido

id

On a bright sunny day, in bright sunny Zilker Park,
Was beloved ruff-tuff, Boston Terrier Bark.
Black and white she was, with a sassy glare,
Just check her name, oh, it’s Pixel the Fair!

Pixel also had a bestie, with fur white as snow,
She was Rosie the Retriever, with a heart aglow.
Pixel was a Frisbee genius, never did miss,
She could fly, she could fetch, showed only pure bliss!

But Rosie, poor Rosie, she couldn’t quite get the knack,
Her hopeful jumps and flicks would always end with a smack.
Seeing her struggle, Pixel knew what to do,
“Bestie, oh bestie, I’ll give you a clue!”

Now Rose’s tail wagged, eyes wide and ears perked,
Ready to learn, with enthusiasm she smirked.
With a twirl and a sashay, Pixel began her class,
“Take note, dear Rosie, it’s all about grace and sass!”

“First, keep your eyes on the Frisbee in flight,
Watch it twirl and spin, oh what a sight!
It’s not about size, nor the strength of your bark,
But timing and patience, that’ll hit the mark!”

Next came the lesson on the leap and the snap,
To jump at the right time, and give the Frisbee a tap.
“Be swift, be precise,” said Pixel so divine,
“Make a leap of faith, and you’ll do just fine!”

Pixel practiced her twirls and showcased her prance,
Every fetch, every flight, seemed like a dance.
Rosie watched in awe of Pixel’s skill,
“Will I ever catch like her?” she mused about the drill.

Next up, it was Rosie’s turn to try,
With a gulp and a nod, she let out a sigh.
Pixel encouraged, “Believe that you can,
A successful fetch is not for the ‘also-ran’!”

Rosie focused on the Frisbee, watched it in flight,
Its spirals, its twirls, she kept it in sight.
She timed her run, took a leap of faith,
And with a triumphant snap, she felt the wraith.

Round and round, they played all day,
In the vast openness of Zilker Park Bay.
Of Frisbees and fetch, Pixel and Rose,
In the heart of the field, where the Zilker wind blows.

With each throw and catch, Rosie learned the game,
She stumbled, she tumbled, but kept up the flame.
With guidance from Pixel, each fetch she celebrated,
Her own Frisbee mastery, she anticipated.

As the day rolled on, the sun hid away,
But the lessons learned would surely stay.
Pixel and Rosie, a dynamic duo they made,
In the realms of Frisbee, they never would fade.

Now when anyone spoke of Zilker Park’s fame,
They would remember Rosie’s rise to the game.
And Pixel, the master, the Frisbee whiz,
With their story of friendship, and Fetching Fido Biz.
